New entrance policies require students and visitors who enter through the front doors to go into the main office area, where they can be checked in or be let into the building by an internal staff-operated buzzer system.

“Through the lens of general safety—what can we do to get a safe process, but also a more expedient process is why we looked at changing the old policy to the new one,” Principal Tam Smith said.

The new system was influenced by the Student Advisory Board and implemented at semester to improve school safety.

Other doors were also affected by the policies. McNeal doors are now open from 8:30-9:10 a.m.
