Interview with English Language Arts Teacher, Meg Woodrich

   1. What is your greatest accomplishment?

“My three children, and I say that because they are super fun and it’s wonderful to watch them grow and also they are a lot of work. It feels like an accomplishment every day. And then professionally, having my masters thesis published felt really great to have other people read what I produced and enjoy it.”

     2. What inspires you to teach?

“Hearing other people bring their own perspectives into the classroom, I like watching them make connections and those “ah-ha” moments.”

     3. What would your last meal be?

“Chocolate chip cookies, warm chocolate chip cookies, vanilla ice cream, and coffee.”

     4. What’s your most embarrassing moment?

“I can’t believe I’m going to tell you this but once upon a time I broke my own nose with my own knee doing Jiu Jitsu and that was really embarrassing,

     5. What is the worst trend you’ve seen your students participating in?

“Probably just spending your entire day on Tik Tok watching videos that you will immediately forget. It just doesn’t feel like a good use of one’s time…”

     6. What is a song you know every lyric to?

“I know every lyric to every song. It’s like a superpower. My favorite song is “Feeling Good by Nina Simone and I know all the words to that one for sure.”

     7. If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?

“Buy more books, pay off my house, set up my kids college fund, and then get Starbucks everyday.”

     8. What is one of your hidden talents?

“I can paint. I paint watercolors and gouache.”

     9. Is there another teacher’s class that you’d like to enroll in for a day and what is it and why?

“Yes! Pottery! …If I could enroll in pottery here I would just die of happiness.”

     10. What is your favorite quote?

“I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, “If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.” -Kurt Vonnegut
